Would you be interested in putting something back into the community and making a real difference locally?
Now there is an exciting opportunity to do just that!
As you may have read in the press The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield is to have its own Town Council. Although its powers may be limited to start with we are confident that its influence will grow. It will start life with a budget of £1.8 million – all to be spent locally.
We have an ever growing list of people interested in standing as Conservative candidates for the Town Council elections in May 2016. Could you be one of them?
You could influence the most local of political decisions, promote the interests of your area as well as that of the Royal Town itself, and above all ensure that our budget is spent wisely.
You may not have had any experience of being a councillor before, but if you join our campaign we would be there to help you along every step of the way. With a strong local Party association and an effective team of eleven experienced City Councillors and our MP Andrew Mitchell, there would be plenty of help available including the Conservative office on the High Street with staff – and a wealth of experience.
The first term of office for all new town councillors would be two years – giving those that are interested a ‘taster period.’ If selected and elected we would hope you’d continue after then, but it would be your choice alone.
All we need at this stage is an email from your confirming your interest and you would then be invited to a special 'Open Evening' we are holding in early 2016 where you can hear more about what being a candidate - and a councillor - would entail. Experienced councillors, our MP, the Agent as well as senior volunteers will all be present. There is no obligation at this stage; if you think being a Town Councillor might be for you, come along and learn more.
