Join the Conservative Party Today!
Being a member of the Conservative Party means that you have joined the the oldest political party in World and the most open and democratic political party in Britain.
Any person living in the United Kingdom is eligible to join the Conservative Party. Applicants are not required to be registered voters or UK nationals. There is no upper or lower age limit on membership, although children under the age of 15 cannot be enrolled as full voting members.
By becoming a member of the Sutton Coldfield Conservative Association, means you are entitled to the following:
• A vote in the selection of candidates for Westminster elections and Local elections.
• Voting in n the election of Constituency Association Officers.
• You can vote for the Party Leader.
• Attend our Party Conference.
• Access to a huge range of social events throughout the year
• Decisions on key policy ideas for the next General Election through the Conservative Policy Forum.
Andrew Mitchell is heavily involved in the local Party and members frequently get the chance to question him at our many events. In addition to him, Sutton Coldfield is served by 8 Birmingham City Councillors and 21 Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Councillors, working hard at making local decisions to support the community. Members frequently get to speak with them and some go on to stand for council themselves.
We have four local branches who meet regularly to talk, plan events, campaign or just have a chat. In addition we have two ladies branches and a newly formed and now very active young persons branch.
We host a Conservative Policy Forum where members can debate local and national politics and have their comments passed on to ministers, giving you the chance to have an input into government policy.
Also, once a year we host a gala dinner where the speaker is nearly always a member of the British Cabinet.
Many members join to get actively involved in politics, either in social action projects or as local councillors, others join for the social activities and make many friends in the Party, some join for the debate and some are content to have a vote in Party matters and support the Conservative Party as we aim to clean up Labour's debt. We do hope you decide to join us.
