We all struggle to cross the road at times and Little Sutton Road is renowned for being the most difficult, especially when you have several young children with scooters etc with you. Councillor Mackey met recently with many concerned parents on Little Sutton Road to discuss the difficulty in enabling our children to walk safely to and from school.
There was agreement on the need for a suitable crossing point on Little Sutton Road at the point between Harvey Drive and Homer Road. Due to the bend just after the Little Sutton Lane junction cars are upon those crossing the road before they have finished negotiating the bend. The bend also makes it difficult for those crossing the road to establish when there is a natural break in the traffic.
There is a refuge currently at that spot but unfortunately, it offers no protection for those stepping out onto the road nor is it wide enough for the number of people wishing to use it especially those with prams, pushchairs, bikes, or scooters.
If you support the introduction of a crossing to improve the safety of our children travelling to and from school, please complete the survey so I can present it to Birmingham City Council and demonstrate this resident demand for a crossing at this point.
