Andrew Mitchell MP has met with local and regional representatives of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) at his office in Sutton to discuss steps the Government has taken to help support Sutton’s small business sector.
Mr Mitchell met with Helen Lillis, Director of the West Midlands region and, David Caro, Chairman of the Birmingham Branch. The FSB is the UK’s biggest business organisation and is campaigning for more ‘Real-Life Entrepreneurs’ in the UK. Sutton’s MP signed a national pledge to show his support for the FSB’s focus on championing entrepreneurship.
The Coalition Government has been working hard on behalf of small businesses to improve access to finance, cut red tape and reduce the costs of running a small firm to get new business ideas off the ground.
Following his meeting Andrew Mitchell MP, said “Small businesses are extremely important to the local and national economy, both in terms of the wealth that they create and the jobs that they provide. As Sutton sees the early signs of recovery it is crucial that local people are encouraged to start their own business and that existing businesses continue to grow.”
“I very much welcomed the opportunity of a discussion with representatives from Sutton’s business community to be given feedback on the steps this Government has already taken to promote private sector growth and to know what more we can do to help small businesses.”
“We are doing everything we can to get the economy moving and despite the difficult current conditions employment is rising and inflation has halved since its peak last year.”
Andrew Mitchell will be speaking to members of the FSB in Sutton Coldfield this Autumn.
