Local Conservatives have called on people to have their say over Labour library cuts as a consultation process begins.
Plans were revealed this month to close Sutton Coldfield Central Library, along with reductions at other community sites, in a move that will decimate the service across the area.
Labour controlled Birmingham City Council has now launched a consultation process that will assess the feelings of local people to the cuts.
The consultation process will involve local meetings as well as the facility to comment online on the plans which have been universally panned by residents.
People can find out more about the consultation and register their comments at https://www.birminghambeheard.org.uk/place/community-libraries
Speaking about the plans Councillor Ewan Mackey said “Labour have been pressured into listening to people over these callous library closures. Now we must ensure that local peoples views are heard and I would urge as many people as possible to have their say.”
A petition to save the libraries has been gathering signatures and local Conservatives have urged people to continue to make their feelings known.
