Andrew Mitchell MP has met with Alex Burrows, Head of Strategy at Centro to discuss the transport network in Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding area.
During the meeting Mr Mitchell discussed the implementation of Centro’s four year plan for the further development of West Midlands transport infrastructure.
He also got an update on the £600m Gateway project which will see the complete redevelopment of New Street station by 2015.
Andrew Mitchell said, “Improved transport links act as a driver to economic growth and regeneration.”
Mr Mitchell also highlighted the significance of Sutton Coldfield’s stations which he said were fundamental to the further development of the local network as a key commuter route and rail freight line.
Andrew Mitchell MP said, “I have stressed to Centro that they provide essential bus and rail transport links to many of my constituents and that Sutton must get the best service possible, both today and in the future.
As the Integrated Transport Authority for the West Midlands Centro provides transport links to 1m people across the Birmingham region.
