NHS Birmingham CrossCity CCG have just announced a public consultation on the commissioning of a non-emergency patient transport service between medical treatment centres.
This service would be for patients who are not able to use private or public transport to attend their hospital appointments or planned treatment sessions.
The aim of the project is to create a universal service and introduce new eligibility criteria – issues that the public will be asked to give their views on through the consultation. The consultation also provides the opportunity to give your views on a new patient charter, which will outline which patients will be eligible to use the new service, and what they will be able to expect from it.
.
The four clinical commissioning groups involved in the project are:
- NHS Birmingham CrossCity CCG;
- NHS Birmingham South Central CCG;
- NHS Sandwell and West Birmingham CCG; and
- NHS Solihull CCG.
The formal public consultation starts on Wednesday 20 May 2015 and will run until Friday 21 August 2015. All of the documents can be found at http://bhamcrosscityccg.nhs.uk/get-involved/consultations/non-emergency-patient-transport-consultation
Sutton Coldfield’s MP Andrew Mitchell said “I encourage my constituents to take part in this consultation so that their views can be taken into account as this worthwhile project progresses. I am glad that the CCGs are exploring the options for making transport to and from medical appointments easier for Suttonians”.
