Andrew Mitchell has written to over 100 companies in Sutton Coldfield inviting them to a Disability Confidence Event. He will be opening the event at the Sutton Coldfield Community Fire Station on Friday 27 February, which is aimed at promoting job opportunities for disabled people and providing information to employers about the business benefits of employing disabled job seekers.
The event, organised by the local Jobcentre, is one in a series of national events being held over the next few months. Confirmed speakers include Barclays, Marks & Spencer, the YMCA and MIND.
Disabled people make up almost 20% of the working age population in Britain. This event will highlight to employers the benefits of employing disabled people, and will bring together employers with experience of employing disabled people to discuss how businesses can best position themselves to employ disabled people.
Andrew Mitchell said “I am looking forward to welcoming a large number of businesses to this event. I am sure it will be extremely productive for all of those involved, and will provide an excellent forum for employers to learn more about the benefits of employing disabled people”.
The event will take place at the Sutton Coldfield Community Fire Station on Friday 27 February. Registration will be open from 9.30 and there will be an opportunity for networking and refreshments before the presentations, which will start at 10.00 and finish at 12.30.
