Conservative Councillors are calling on local residents to have their say as a consultation begins on local play areas. At a Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Town Councillors agreed to fund a new play area in Vesey Ward and will now consult residents on their views about where it should be placed.
Local Councillor Louise Passey has fought for funding to be brought to Vesey and is delighted that local kids will have somewhere to play “It has been a real battle to secure funding for a much needed play area in Vesey but I am delighted that the money is now in place. It is now up to local people to have their say and point the town council in the right direction for the play area.”
A consultation period will begin shortly that will include public meetings, online consultations and door to door leafleting.
Councillor Passey added “I really want our new play area, wherever it is located, to be a true community asset and something that will benefit children from across the area. There is nothing better than giving children somewhere safe to play”
Two other sites had been considered but these were deemed unsuitable and prohibitively expensive by planning experts
