Cllr Anne Underwood (Four Oaks) has uncovered an old family heirloom proving Sutton Coldfield's history as a Royal Town. A silver medal, awarded by King George V on his Silver Jubilee has been passed down Cllr Underwood's family.
She presented the medal as further evidence of Sutton's status as a Royal Town which also names the Mayor of the time Arthur E Terry.
Cllr Underwood said: ''Sutton Coldfield has always been a Royal Town and this Royal medal from 1935 demonstrates that fact. I am proud to support the campaign to have this fact recognised.
Local MP Andrew Mitchell said: ''Many valuable pieces of evidence are now coming to light thanks to the diligence of our Royal townsfolk''
