Labour leaders in Birmingham have been asked to resign after a £49 million black hole was revealed in the city councils budget.
All Labour Councillors in Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield voted for the failed budget which has seen local libraries placed under threat of closure, along with other local services in Sutton Coldfield
Speaking after the December City council meeting Cllr Dr Andrew Hardie (pictured) said “Labour have failed to make their own figures add up and failed to keep services running efficiently. The situation is so serious that, according to their own figures this budget deficit could be set to skyrocket to £78 million.”
In March Conservatives presented an alternative budget that would have cut waste and focused on local services. Services for local people will now suffer due to Labour economic incompetence.
Town Councillor Louise Passey echoed Dr Hardies views saying “It beggars belief that Labour can’t even stick to the budget that they themselves set out. We now see services such as our local libraries being threatened whilst Labour continues to waste hundreds of thousands on highly paid consultants and vanity projects”
