Andrew Mitchell MP has visited Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School as part of Parliament Week which aims to raise awareness of our Parliamentary democracy in the UK.
Andrew Mitchell met with Year 8 students to talk about the history and the workings of Parliament and explain a typical day for him in Sutton Coldfield as the local Member of Parliament. This was followed by a lively question and answer session in which the students raised the issues of High Speed 2, unemployment, Sutton’s Green Belt and equal civil marriage.
Andrew Mitchell MP, said “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Bishop Vesey, as I always do, and I was extremely impressed with the variety of quick-fire questions the students asked.”
“I also had a positive discussion with the Head Teacher and Executive Head about the progress the School is making on their application to become an Academy.”
