Andrew Mitchell MP met with the Leader of Birmingham City Council, Councillor Sir Albert Bore, last Friday to urge him to pursue all legitimate alternatives to building on Sutton’s Green Belt which once built on we can never get back.
Sutton Coldfield’s MP said four options must be explored with vigour and with an open mind. These include a more detailed look at Brownfield land available throughout Birmingham, an assessment of Brownfield land available across the West Midlands and throughout the Local Enterprise Partnership with proper respect for the wishes of all local authorities, a full study on the effects of building on Sutton Coldfield’s Green Belt and further examination of the figures of housing need taking into account new and lower estimates for international immigration.
Andrew Mitchell MP, said “I had a constructive and useful discussion with Sir Albert and explained, I hope very clearly, the view we take about our Green Belt in Sutton Coldfield and the critical importance of exploring the other options I have set out.”
