Andrew Mitchell MP has visited the Headquarters of Schaeffler UK in Minworth in his constituency to discuss the company’s success as well as their focus on research and development in the UK automotive industry.
Schaeffler, one of the largest family-owned companies in Sutton, employs nearly one hundred people in Sutton Coldfield. Mr Mitchell and New Hall Councillor Guy Roberts met with Managing Director, Kate Hartigan, and the Director & General Manager of the Automotive Division, Richard Hall, to talk about what the Government is doing to support the British manufacturing industry.
Andrew Mitchell MP, said “Schaeffler is an excellent example of a strong manufacturing business employing local people. The Prime Minister has vowed to protect and expand the UK’s strong manufacturing base by offering direct help to manufacturers and encouraging all Government departments to bang the drum for British trade.”
“I discussed with senior management at Schaeffler the Government’s pledge to make it easier for manufacturers to offer skilled apprenticeships so that businesses can employ local people from Sutton Coldfield with the right skills.”
